The Producer Guide to Making a Great Independent Recording eBook Eric Copeland
Download As PDF : The Producer Guide to Making a Great Independent Recording eBook Eric Copeland
A Step by Step guide for anyone wanting to produce an album in the studio like a pro. Written by an experienced independent producer with 20 years of experience in the local, regional, and music center studios.
This is NOT about producing superstars, this is about the nuts and bolts of working on every day independent projects. It's directed at the thousands of projects that get recorded every day around the world, and has the information you need to get the job done.
The Producer Guide to Making a Great Independent Recording eBook Eric Copeland
Eric Copeland's personal experience certainly qualifies his book as worth reading. Unlike many 'professional writers' who regurgitate dry facts, Mr. Copeland relates hard won and easy to appreciate lessons of working in the new reality of 'professional' music. Rather than try to explain the home brew approach (which shifts faster than the Sahara and will one day consume the music industry) - this book introduces the novice to the idea of working with professionals in real (whatever that is these days) facilities. He also ignores much of the 'major label' silly speak about lawyers, points, publishing and contracts. Most people shouldn't attempt to DIY that side of things, and >95% of us will never 'win the lottery' and sign to a label. Mr. Copeland points out that all that infrastructure is still there, and (sometimes) desperate to serve you.
Everyone needs to read this book before they start shopping for studio time or contemplating anything beyond the 'home demo.' But, Mr. Copeland's breezy 'don't worry, be happy' vibe (which is attractive in a producer) leaves a lot of details only casually dealt with. The book presents a wonderful 'birds eye view' but I think he has a lot more to offer.
This is the struggle for many writers - do I include the kitchen sink, or do I point you towards the mountain and say 'it's at the top!'? This book doesn't drown in detail, but I still feel a person with Copeland's experience has a lot more to offer, and I want more.
